Karen Shakhnazarov Film festival starts in Bucharest

A.Savin//wikimedia.org8th Russian film festival has started yesterday in Romanian capital, TASS reports. This cinema forum is dedicated to Russian director Karen Shakhnazarov who turns 65 this year. His new feature Anna Karenina: Vronsky's Story was screened at the opening night. The director himself presented the film.

The head of Russian Embassy in Romania Valery Kuzmin has commented that such events support development of closer relations between two countries.

Shakhnazarov noted that he comes to Bucharest not the first time. According to recognized director, the connections between Russian and Romania in the cinematography area have weakened now, and everything should be done to recover them. The same question was discussed at the meeting between the head of Mosfilm film studio and Romanian minister of culture Lucian Romascanu.

Karen Shakhnazarov's films to be shown not only in Romanian capital, but also in other cities of this country.
