26.10.2017

MFA Press-serviceThe head of US Embassy in Moscow has received the note of protest from Russian MFA on removing Russian mission in SF diplomatic archives, TASS reports. According to official representative Maria Zakharova, a duplicated claim was sent to Washington.

Zakharova has added that US actions come in disregard for the international law. They contradict 17th article of the Consular Convention between US and Russia. The article says that “Consular archives must remain untouchable at any time wherever they reside.”

Let us remember, US authorities didn't let Russian diplomats to remove archives from San Francisco consulate that was closed at the beginning of September. As the Foreign Ministry stated, despite protests of Russian diplomatic mission the archive was independently packed and removed to Washington by US officials.

It's also worth mentioning that several days ago Russian flags were removed from diplomatic properties in San Francisco and Washington, including trade mission in the U.S. Capital.
