Russian figure skaters win 7 medals at Grand Prix in Moscow

serpuhov-city.comRussian figure skaters demonstrated fairly good results at the first stage of Grand Prix tournament, according to the head of Russian Figure Skating Federation Alexander Gorshkov. The competition completed in Moscow the day before opening an Olympic season, TASS reports.

Russian sportsmen managed to win seven medals of different values at home.

Evgeniya Medvedeva has proved, that fairly was considered a favorite of the tournament and added another victory to two titles of the world champion, having won the individual competitions. Even a mistake did not prevent her from demonstrating better skills than her rivals. Elena Radio nova from Russia stopped a step before the victory taking the fourth place, and fifteen-year-old Valeria Mikhailova who debuted at adult competitions took the seventh place.

Another Russian debuting sportsman is Dmitry Aliyev who took the seventh place. According to the sportsman, his injured leg prevented him from showing better results; he was even going to give up the competition due to his trauma.

Russian team has taken the bronze medal into the collection for men’s individual skating. Mikhail Kolyada took the third place. Nathan Chen from US occupied the first place, whereas the public’s favorite Yuzuru Hanyu from Japan took silver.

Russian duet Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitry Solovyev did not take the first place by sad mistake. They lost to Maia and Alex Shibutani from US. The third place was gained by Russians too – Alexander and Ivan Bunin.

All three awards were taken by Russia in pair skating. Yevgeniya Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov won the competitions, the silver medal holders were Ksenia Stolbova and Fyodor Klimov. Alexei Rogonov and Kristina Astakhova were on the third place.
