Sochi welcomes 2017 meters youth marathon

Anton Novoderejkin/TASS2017 meters youth marathon took place in Sochi, TASS informs. So far it is the largest event in the frames of the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students. Almost 3,500 people from 73 countries took part in it.

The route followed the Formula-1 race track in Olympic Park. All those willing to participate came to compete in running a distance. There were also people with disabilities, according to the deputy leader of Roscongress foundation Georgy Briusov.

All runners have received individual chips before the marathon. Afterwards they have received the results by text message.

The Olympic's energy could be felt during the marathon and all other sport events, said Briusov.

It was no coincidence that the start to the marathone was given by the head of Russia's Olympic Committee, Alexander Zhukov and the the Public Council under Russia's Sport Ministry, famous swimmer Alexander Popov.

Let us remember, the main activities of 19th World Festival of Youth and Students takes place in Sochi. A specialized programme was prepared for the guests including acquaintance with the inviting country. Foreign guests will be able to visit fifteen Russian cities, meet their peers and get to know culture of multinational Russia better.

The Russkiy Mir Foundation is a partner of the World Festival of Youth and Students’ administration contributing to attraction of foreign participants. Almost two hundred young people from the former Soviet Union countries as well as non-CIS states could come to Russia for the festival thanks to the efforts of the Russkiy Mir.
