WFYS 2017 officially starts in Sochi

Belskaya Anastasia/TASSOfficial opening ceremony of the World Festival of Youth and Students 2017 was held in Sochi on October 15th with participation of Vladimir Putin, TASS reports.

Russian leader has remarked that willingness to make this world a better place unites these young people and adults should help them. “Young generation always brings forward innovative ideas. You like experimenting, arguing and disagreeing with a familiar way of living. Do it! Make your future! Strive to change this world and make it a better place to live! You can do it!” Putin said.

President has noted that today’s festival became the most representative event over the whole history of its existence. He has stressed out that participants of the first WFYS managed to bring to life a lot and, most importantly, to prove that there were no barriers to the true friendship.

The main activities of 19th World Festival of Youth and Students takes place in Sochi. A specialized programme was prepared for the guests including acquaintance with the inviting country. Foreign guests will be able to visit fifteen Russian cities, meet their peers and get to know culture of multinational Russia better.

The Russkiy Mir Foundation is a partner of the World Festival of Youth and Students’ administration contributing to attraction of foreign participants. Almost two hundred young people from the former Soviet Union countries as well as non-CIS states could come to Russia for the festival thanks to the efforts of the Russkiy Mir.
