WFYS 2017 starts in Russia

Sergey Bobulev/TASSWorld Festival of Youth and Students 2017 kicks off in Russia, RIA Novosti reports. Large-scale event has opened with parade and carnival in the Moscow center. Entertaining procession counting more than 1000 people from 180 countries was a blast. It has presented reconstruction of previous festivals and annual carnivals in Venice and Rio de Janeiro. There was a gala concert afterwards.

It is worth mentioning that main events to be conducted in Sochi. Vladimir Putin and several ministers will come to the opening ceremony in the Ice palace Bolshoi this Sunday, October 15. Previous festivals' participants are going to be there as well. Those who took part in WFYS of 1985 in Moscow and 1978 in Cuba are going to share their memories.

Several hundred events are going to be conducted in the frames of the festival. Each day theSergey Bobulev/TASS discussion program to be dedicated to various countries and continents. Jazz lovers will attend Sochi Jazz Festival headed by famous saxophone player Igor Butman. Contemporary music and National cultures festivals are happening as well. Those who prefer active lifestyle might be engaged in various sport activities: mini football, acrobatic rock'n'roll, basketball, etc.

Numerous exhibitions devoted to Russia and new YOUTH EXPO brand presentation are waiting for those indulged in arts and fashion. About 20,000 people from 180 countries to participate in the festival. 5,000 young people were chosen out of tens of thousands those willing to volunteer from Russia and CIS countries.

It is worth mentioning that trips around Russia are planned for foreigners for the first time. Two thousand guests from abroad will be able to visit fifteen Russian cities as a part of this programme.
