Forest fires stoke Fort Ross

12.10.2017

User:Introvert//wikimedia.orgHistorical festival that had to be held in Fort Ross is cancelled due to the forest fires, TASS informs. Forest fires have been going on the Northern part of California for a long time.

According to the the head of Society for Saving Fort Ross Sara Svidler more than 1500 people had to be at the festival. Fort Ross — Seaview Harvest Festival is an annual event that is traditionally held each fall.

Forest fires are the real concern for those who live next to the woods. Locals have organized a volunteer firefighter crew. Luckily Fort Ross itself is located next to the ocean and there are not so many trees around.

The valley in fire is located 20 miles from Fort Ross, but there's a possibility that if the wind strengthens the fire might come to the ocean shore as well. For now the danger is localized.

The fire has taken lives of twenty people, more than hundred are hurt and 1500 persons are currently misplaced. More than 3,500 houses are destroyed. 20,000 people have been already evacuated.

At this time there's an Emergency call ( режим чрезвычайной ситуации) in eight California districts.
