pixabay.comUS Central Intelligence Agency declassified around sixty documents related to Soviet Rocket and Space programmes of 50ies – 60ies, RIA Novosti informs. Despite the published materials conceal information partially; having read them, internet users know a lot about the first stage of the Soviet Union space development programme.

Judging by the reports and other documents as well as analysis of data by US intelligence, CIA expected launching of the first artificial Earth satellite Sputnik, which will gather scientific information and data of the restricted military significance, to happen already by the beginning of 1957. One of the report says that the probability of the launch failure is high, that is why Moscow may announce the space flight afterwards.

It should be reminded that publication of materials in accordance with Law about Freedom of Information coincided with 60th anniversary of the first artificial Earth Satellite Sputnik launch by USSR, which marked the beginning of a new era.
