Rospechyat websiteContest for the best Children’s and Young People’s Literature Kniguru will take place overseas, TASS reports. It will be held on request of Russian compatriots in US, according to the head of the Big Book award Georgy Urushadze. Russian-speaking families in USA would love their kids to be avid readers of contemporary Russian literature.

Georgy Urushadze has also commented that Kniguru in the World competition is slightly different from the all-Russian. In Russia, jury consists of kds and adolescents aged between 10 - 16 years old who vote the best books. In US young Russian-speaking voters from 10 to 21 also participate in contest with their written reviews, video presentation, book trailer, etc. The winner in each nomination is going to be picked. The jury consists of Russian language scholars, librarians, literary critics, journalists who live and work in Russia and the US.

The main goal of the contest is to attract Russian-American kids and teens to the contemporary Russian literature relevant for their age. Meetings with children writers such as Nina Dashevskaya and Irina Lukianova will take place in New York, Chicago, Cleveland, Seattle.

Let us remember, last time the contest was held in Great Britain.
