International Music Day celebrated today

International Music Day celebrated today, October 1. It was established by the IMC-UNESCO International Music Council at the 15th General Assembly IMC in Losanne in 1975.

One of the initiators of International Music Day was composer Dmitry Shostakovich.

This event is celebrated all around the world every year with big concert programs with participation of the best musicians, meetings with composers, performers and music historians, thematic exhibitions.

The Great Hall of the St Petersburg Philharmonic opens season ticket with participation of two famous musicians - Charles Dutoit and Nikolay Lugansky.

Finnish concert organist Kalevi Kiviniemi participates in Nine Centuries of Organ International festival in Moscow Tchaikovsky Concert Hall.

At the Moscow International House of Music festival “Vladimir Spivakov invites...” opens on October 1.

Music Autumn in Tver opens in the old Russian city Tver, While in Samara opens Music Autumn in Samara. Yakutia Philharmonic Hall marks the International Music Day with Northern Lights festival.
