Unique set of CD named “Young Slava” is issued by record label Melodia, TASS reports. It is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the master of cello.
There are early recordings made before 1967, including first renditions. Classical repertoire widely presented by concert recordings of Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme, Dvorak, Lalo, Saint Saens and others. Many compositions are recorded with participation of the great colleagues, such as violinist Leonid Kogan, pianist Emil Gilels, violist Rudolf Barshai.
Mstislav Rostropovich gained popularity in USSR in early 1950s. In ten years he was called the Cellist №1. Remarkably, the art of Rostrapovich has conditioned many Soviet composers' interest in cello. About 60 composers from ex-USSR and abroad have dedicated compositions to him. Among these composers are D. Shostakovich, C. Prokofiev, A. Khachaturian, A. Shnitke, L. Bernstain (US), V. Liutoslavsky (Poland).
