Square named after Russian Federation appeared in Buenos Aires

26.09.2017

Anton Velikzhanin/TASSA gala opening ceremony of Russian Federation Square was held in Buenos Aires, TASS reports. The city administration, members of Argentinian government and Russian Embassy workers took part in the ceremony. A new square is located next to Russian Embassy and its trade representation.

Secretary for Human Rights and Cultural Pluralism of Argentina Claudio Avruj has reminded that Russian expats proposed to build Russia’s Square in the capital five years ago. Buenos Aires authorities agreed and chose a place in the prestigious city district Belgrano. Claudio Avruj has noted that the relations with Russia are very important for Argentina and expressed hope that this small gesture of the authorities will be duly appreciated by the Russian community of around three hundred thousand people and relations between countries will develop in trust and beneficial cooperation.

Russian Ambassador to Argentina Viktor Koronelli thanked the city administration for the chosen venue for the square in the district of Belgrano. New Embassy offices will be erected nearby. The diplomat has claimed that thus a new Russian vicinity is now being created.
