Open your Europe in the Hermitage

pixabay.comThird international festival Open your Europe in the Hermitage took place at the State Hermitage, St. Petersburg, TASS report.

The festival was timed with the 300th anniversary of the "great embassy" of Peter the Great to Europe. It also coincides with European Day of Languages celebrated on September 26 in the countries of the Council of Europe, which has 47 member states including Russia.

Visitors were privileged to indulge in the world of European national traditions. There was an interactive zone "Europe as seen by Peter the Great" where spectators could see all the cities and towns the famous Russian Tsar has visited. Master classes and language courses organized by 18 European countries for adults and youth were also available. Young visitors were granted with numerous quizzes, games, contests, and even a possibility to make a picture in front of the Big Coronation Carriage of Peter I.

Volunteers came from 18 EU countries to participate in this major event. In particular, they assisted Hermitage staff to conduct creative master classes.

In addition to the intercultural activities, ecology-themed movies were in the schedule marking 2017th that was declared the Year of Ecology in Russia.
