Global humanitarian society aiming Russian language might be created in 2018

20.09.2017

Russian Education Academy hosted a discussion board dedicated to the problems of Russian language support today, September 20th. Compatriots from 80 countries came to participate in this session.

One of the main topics discussed was a creation of global humanitarian society aiming Russian language popularization abroad.

According to Russkiy Mir Foundation Deputy Director Vladimir Kochin, the new Russian-language movement doesn't have to be concentrated only around linguistic issues, but to take it wider. Kochin has noted that principal public figures are ready to support this movement, and among them Serbian director Emir Kusturitsa.

Deputy Minister of Education in Russia Pavel Zenkovich proposed to declare new global humanitarian society on the next Russian Language day, on June 6th 2018. Zenkovich is sure that it is important to involve youth organizations, proposing to discuss this topic during XIX World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi.

Let us remember that in June 2017 during Russkiy Mir Anniversary Conference Executive Director of the Russkiy Mir Foundation Vyacheslav Nikonov has suggested to organize global society that would support Russian World ideas. In the final resolution of the conference its participants were calling for attention of non-governmental organizations to join efforts in public diplomacy and cultural exchange.
