March of Suvorov through the Alps celebrated in Switzerland

Alex DollFrom St Gotthard Pass to Baikal exhibition opening ceremony took place in Ticino, southern Switzerland. The event is timed with the annually-commemorated anniversary of Russian army crusade under military general Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov.

The opening is dedicated to the Irkutsk governor Ivan Zedler (1777–1853). Cultural attaché of Embassy of the Russian Federation in Switzerland Elena Arkhipova, canton administration and local inhabitants were present at the opening. The event visitors have watched Suvorov. Alps in 200 Years documentary at the opening.

Exposition is from now on is open, and includes Vyacheslav Shichkov's artworks and Alex Doll's lithographs from series 'Following the footsteps of Suvorov in Switzerland'. Works of contemporary Russian photographers and collection of early Baikal and Irkutsk photographs are on view as well.

The main purpose of the exhibition is to uncover historical chapters that link our countries.
