Soviet soldiers memorial destroyed in Poland

vedomosti.mdRussian Defense Ministry outraged by the demolition of the Mausoleum of soldiers of the Red Army in Poland, TASS reports. Cemetery Mausoleum installed over the mass grave of Soviet soldiers was located in Trzcianka town.

The head of Department of the Ministry of defense of the Russian Federation on perpetuating of memory of victims at protection of Fatherland Vladimir Popov has commented that this act is outrageous desecration of the memory of those who liberated the world from Fascism.

The Russian Mission in Warsaw has expressed its objection to this demolition underlining that this act violates the agreements reached between Russia and Poland. Warsaw didn’t provide any arguments for the liquidation or relocation of the memorial, Russian Embassy’s statement says.

The head of the Russian Defense Ministry military commemorative mission in Poland Alexey Fomichev has told that there was continuous discussion with Polish authorities on including this object in the registry of historical sites.

As we informed earlier, members of Polish Parliament have passed amendments to the current legislation about “decommunization” supposed to pull down around five hundred monuments allegedly glorifying the Soviet system. All the monuments will be abolished during one year.
