Tsarskoye Selo State Museum-Preserve has acquired the book Analyse raisonnée de la sagesse de Charron by Jean-Pierre-Louis Luchet used to belong to empress Catherine the Great, RIA Novosti reports.
Two volumes were owned by a private collector. Museum workers have noted that judjing by book binders and marks on flyleafs the issue was stored in Tsarskoye Selo library and was owned by Catherine the Great. The book of both cultural and scientific interest is going to be kept in the department of Rare Books and presented on some topical exhibitions.
As is known, Catherine the Great has acquired dozens of pocket-book editions in the late 1880s. Tsarskoye Selo State Museum-Preserve is still keeping 15 centimeters high bookshelves that were intended for the Empress' petit format collections.
