05.09.2017

The Presidential Administration of RussiaMoscow is ready to participate in all discussions about the North Korea’s crisis, Presidential Press-Secretary Dmitry Peskov has stated. According to him, Russia will take part in all formats of negotiations including UN Security Council discussions, RIA Novosti reports. He has reminded that President has many times mentioned that the only way to settle the crisis is a dialogue between all parties involved.

Peskov has added that sanctions against North Korea did not have any positive impact, just the other way round; the situation leaves much to be desired.

Situation in North Korea became a topic of the telephone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Sindzo Abe held after the meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

Russian and Chinese leaders criticized North Korean nuclear tests conducted the day before. In their opinion, it jeopardies non-proliferation regime, moreover it contradicts United Nations Security Council and international law. Besides, it threatens peace and stability in the region.

Vladimir Putin has stressed the necessity of calm and prudent actions. He has underlined that emotions-guided actions by international community are unacceptable.

Sindzo Abe and Vladimir Putin will continue discussing this topic during their personal meeting at Eastern Economic Forum on September 7.
