Russian Ambassador to US: Russia will continue visa granting without any limitations

04.09.2017

U.S. Mission Geneva/Eric Bridiers//wikimedia.orgRussia’s newly appointed Ambassador Anatoly Antonov has stressed that Russia will continue issuing visas to American citizens without any limitations, TASS report. Ambassador has pointed out that official Moscow will try to relieve the tension in the Russian-American relations and Russian Foreign Ministry will not react on limitations imposed by US for non-immigrant visas to Russian citizens.

“I believe we need to continue granting visas to American citizens intending to visit the Russian Federation. We will not answer,” Anatoly Antonov said.

Diplomat has reminded journalists that according to UN Charter, Russia and USA share responsibility for the world security, which is why they should stop policy of sanctions and restrictions and return to mutually beneficial cooperation. Ambassador has emphasized that the whole world will gain from this partnership letting along Russian and US citizens.

It is worth reminding diplomatic war started at the end of 2016 when official Washington declared 35 diplomats and Russian embassies’ staff as non grata persons. Russia did not answer back hoping that new administration of the White House would stop such practices. However, after another round of unfriendly measures towards Moscow, Vladimir Putin claimed about the decision to cut down staff of US Embassies and Consulates in Russia considerably until the parity is reached. After that Washington demanded to close Russian General Consulate in San Francisco.
