Cannes hosts 20th Russian Art Festival

www.seecannes.com20th Festival de L'Art Russe has started in Cannes. It will last until August, 27. Performance of Russian Pyatnitsky Folk Chorus has opened the major Russian event, according to RIA Novosti.

General producer of festival Tatiana Shumova has marked that despite complicated political and economic situation, the forum has never failed, on the contrary, its agenda is refilled with performances of the best Russian Art representatives year by year. “The festival has turned into one of the most favorite summer holidays for these years. It has friends and fans here already,” she claimed.

Artworks by Zurab Tsereteli and other Russian artists are displayed at the Cote d’Ivoir in France this year. Exhibition fair of arts and crafts is also held in the frameworks of the festival, presenting objects from all corners of Russia.

Russian Night concert and Day of Cinema and Ballet are a part of the festival programme. A badge of honor for outstanding contribution into reinforcement of cultural ties between Russia and France will be handed out to French ballet dancer Laurent Hilaire at the Russian Night concert. His creative career of Rudolf Nureyev's student is tightly connected to Russia and Russian ballet. The French ballet master has become the artistic director of the ballet at the The Moscow Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre last year.
