Russia participates in 29th Summer Olympiad

21.08.2017

2017 World Games, where around eight thousand people take part, started in Taipei, China, TASS informs. XXIX Summer Universiade will be supported by International University Sports Federation. Students will compete for 275 sets of awards.

President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin sent a greeting telegram to Russian participants of the Olympiad wishing “bright and big victories” to our sportsmen.

Russian delegation consists of about 530 people, two thirds of them are professional sportsmen. Our participants will compete in 19 sport disciplines out of 21 possible. Unfortunately, Russian athletes will not take part in the competitions because they could not get access due to disqualification of All-Russia Athletic Federation by IAAF. Despite twenty percent of awards are meant for athletics where Russians have no chances to win at all, our team still sets the most serious goals and intends to struggle for the leadership in unofficial medal count.

The Universiade finishes August 30, 2017.
