Kniguru gathers 600 kids who love to write in Russian

Rospechat websiteKniguru All-Russian competition for the best literary work for children and youth has received more than 600 applications from 18 countries, Rospechat website reports.

Kniguru competition is held for the eighth time. Its organisers have marked that the long list will be posted on the website in the beginning of September. In one month the short list that would include 15 authors will be announced.

It is remarkable that the Kniguru jury consists of teens aged up to 16 years old. They will have to choose three best authors who are going to share 1 mln rubles prize fund ($16,576).

As we reported earlier, Aya aNN (Irina Krestieva) won the contest last year. She was awarded for her novel Absolutely Desolated. The second prize went to Artyom Lyakhovich, and the third to Larisa Romanovskaya.
