The Presidential Administration of Russia
Russia has greatly contributed towards peace and stability for the people of the Middle East, has stated Vice President of Iraq Nouri al-Maliki during the meeting with Vladimir Putin in Moscow, TASS informs.

"I am always eager to emphasize Russia’s immense contribution to preventing our region from falling apart, specifically in Syria and Iraq. You have our most sincere gratitude for that. If it were not for Russia’s contribution, the map of the region would have changed for the worse for us, " has stated Iraqi Vice President.

In his turn, Russian President has emphasized that the situation in the region is still complicated, and Russia understands it. At the same time Vladimir Putin has marked the positive dynamics in terms of economic cooperation between two countries. Among priority directions in cooperation Russian President has named military and technical fields.

Iraqi Vice President has arrived a day before with a working visit to Russia. Nouri al-Maliki has already held talks with the Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov and Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko.
