Maria Zakharova criticized NATO video about Forest Brothers

13.07.2017

MFA press serviceDirector of the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova have posted on her Facebook page a ranting note about Forest Brothers NATO video. The partisan group is called “fighters for independence of the Baltic States”, RIA Novosti reports. The politician has stated that because of the actions of so-called "freedom fighters" thousands of innocent people have died at the end of 1940s – beginning of 1950s. There were also SS officers among them.

"I remember that a half year ago the world community, including the mainstream media, was discussing whether it could be allowed to stage a dance on the topic of the Holocaust. I hope that the same people, who claim that they are not indifferent to careful approach to tragic pages of the history, would assess NATO's disgusting action. I hope there is no need to remind about the massive slaughters, in which those, who later called themselves Forest Brothers, were involved," Zakharova said on Facebook.

Calling the NATO documentary ‘Perversion of history' Maria Zakharova called on to cut short any attempts to review the outcome of the Nuremberg Tribunal. “If today Stepan Bandera is a hero and tomorrow Forest Brothers were saving Baltic, what should we expect from tomorrow?” posted a rhetorical question Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative. She has mentioned that Western Intelligence agencies stayed behind Forest Brothers, and NATO is informed about it.

Russian deputy PM Dmitry Rogozin said that NATO has really reached the limit. “This reel with Forest Brothers killing our soldiers confirms the fact that when we face NATO we face the heirs to those of Hitler’s collaborators who survived the war,” he tweeted.

It worth reminding that not long ago the chief of Go Vilnius Darius Urdis was laid off tho Lithuanian Mayor's Office after he has expressed the doubt about fighting methods of Forest Brothers.
