06.07.2017

Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation
BRICS countries have signed five-year agreement on cooperation in culture, art and cultural heritage, RIA Novosti reports. The plan covers various aspects of cultural partnership between Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa for the period of 2017-2021. Our country was represented by Vladimir Medinsky.

The five parties have reaffirmed that promotion of the cultural heritage exchange plays an important role in bolstering dialogue and mutual understanding.

As a result of the Summit important documents on establishing new organizations were signed. Let us remember that BRICS countries have already signed documents regarding Youth and Children's theaters' association. New action plan involves art galleries and museums to enhance exchanges and mutual learning via exhibitions and sharing information.
The Summit participants have also launched the library alliance, which is a very important part of the agreement. Special committee involving all BRICS countries representatives will be leading the library alliance. Chief librarians from the five nations will convene for the first time in China next year.
