Remote Electronic Reading Room of the Presidential library opened in Dresden

Boris Yeltsin Presidential libraryAn affiliated branch of Boris Yeltsin Presidential library was opened in Dresden. The center is located at the premises of German-Russian Institute of Culture. It has become the third remote electronic reading room in Germany, where Russian compatriots and local population are welcome to get acquainted with e-stock of the library consisting of hundred thousands of materials and publications, TASS informs. Earlier such centers were opened in Berlin and Munich.

During the opening ceremony founders of the reading room paid attention of the audience to the e-collection under the title Russia-Germany: From History of Relationships. Separate pages of the German history (beginning IX century) are stored in the collection together with documentary evidences of diplomatic and cultural ties between Russia and Germany existing for the last three centuries.

Press-service of the library has reported that currently a network of remote electronic reading rooms contains thirty centers situated in twenty-four European countries. The library workers have acknowledged that such reading rooms are very popular among Russian expats, scientists and researchers who are in need of rare publications and official archival documents and permanently residing and working beyond Russia.

Boris Yelstin Presidential library opened dozens of regional affiliated branches in Russia and published interesting documents on the Internet. In particular, last year the library workers published a full collection of literary works by famous dictionary maker Vladimir Dal to mark his 215th birth anniversary.
