European Foreign Service representative is for restoring relationship with Russia

08.06.2017

It was a mistake of the European Union to freeze all contacts with Russia because of the Ukrainian conflict, Director of the Crisis Management and Planning Directorate Gabor Iklody believes. In his opinion, the suspense of interaction brought no positive results, RIA Novosti reports.

Senior representative of the European Diplomacy has explained that there are many issues supposing mutual activities of Moscow and Brussels, so collaboration is inevitable.

Mr. Ikoldy has added that top-level meetings and contacts are held even now, so that “the chair is not empty,” so to say, but it is hard to expect some constructive results from them.

It is necessary to continue work on other levels too, including technical level and a military part of it. We should not cut off communication channels. Moreover, Russia and the European Union have to continue collaboration in the field of civil society and science.
