Foreign nationals going to Kaliningrad will be able to get e-visas free of charge, as per RIA Novosti. Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov stated this in the course of his meeting with Anton Alikhanov, who is temporary appointed as Governor of Kaliningrad Region.
Foreign Minister has reminded that the status of a special economic zone has existed in Kaliningrad Region for a long time already. He has explained that Russian Foreign Ministry proposed the Government to allow Kaliningrad guests to obtain e-visas. They will be issued free of charge for the term of thirty days. E-visa holders will be able to stay in Kaliningrad within thirty days continuously. According to Sergey Lavrov, it is very convenient for those who would start some mutual business projects in this region.
This is a measure to ease migration conditions between the region and its neighboring territories.
Tourists from abroad will not need to pay a consular fee any longer. The process of getting a permit for entering the territory will be simplified as well. For this purpose, just an e-application form should be filled in.
It is worth reminding that the same regime is effective in Vladivostok. It has become known earlier that St. Petersburg authorities are proposing to issue e-visas for foreign tourists too.
