Foreigners will be able to defended a thesis in their native language in Russia

02.06.2017

Foreigners have an opportunity to defend a thesis in Russia in their native language, TASS reports.

The corresponding agreement has been signed by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. Now citizens of other countries who completed their thesis for getting a scientific degree can present them in their native language in scientific institutions where it is possible. The document stipulates that this decision may help attracting foreign researchers into Russian Higher Educational Institutions and Scientific Institutes as well as will raise competitiveness of these organizations.

The governmental resolution stipulates that the text of thesis and its abstract should be presented in Russian as well. Translation services of the thesis and work of the translator who can be invited at the session of Higher Attestation Commission are paid by the organization where the thesis is presented or by financial means of a candidate.

It is worth reminding that Dmitry Medvedev believes that Russian Education should become an export direction. He is sure that everything possible should be done to increase the number of foreign students in Russian universities by three times. A bit more than two hundred thousand foreign students study in Russia this year, whereas in 2025 this number should exceed seven hundred thousand people. We talk about full-time education here only.
