Pushkin Museum celebrates 105th Anniversary

The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts celebrates 105th anniversary today. The museum has opened its doors on May 31, 1912 due to Ivan Tsvetaev’s initiative. At first it was named after Emperor of Russia Alexander the Great, and later was renamed by Alexander Pushkin to mark the centenary of the poet’s death.

The museum’s collection comprises more than 700 thousand pieces.

Due to the birthday the museum plans to open its doors for free.

Gorky Central Park will present photography exhibition devoted to the museum and its stuff. Especially for the anniversary the museum management prepared souvenirs such as shawls with the museum’s ceiling murals, pins, perfume, chocolates.
