Russian-Austrian Street Festival attended by thousands in Vienna

First Russian-Austrian Street Festival was held in the capital of Austria, TASS informs. Street activities were organized next to St. Nicholas Cathedral and Russian Embassy. Festival was attended by Vienna citizens, city guests and some diplomats.

Street Festival guests were treated with traditional dishes of the Russian cuisine, like pies with meat and honey pancakes. Apart from the food delicacies, the Festival agenda was rich in performances by various music bands and folk music groups. Their talents fascinated Russian compatriots living in Vienna as well as local population.

Russian Ambassador to Austria Dmitry Lyubinsky took part in the cultural event. He has specified that Austrian tradition when locals gather to celebrate day of a certain street or city has deep roots in the past. However, he has added that this is the first time when mutual Russian-Austrian events take place in Vienna. Dmitry Lyubinsky has claimed that such cultural activities reflect high level of Russian-Austrian relations’ development of very close and friendly nature.

Crowds of guests visited the celebrations, which lasted for the whole day and wrapped up with Russian folk music.
