Moscow talks hastened Russian-Japanese peace treaty signature

Russia president administration Talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe were held in Moscow the day before, according to TASS. The politicians discussed present conditions and perspectives of bilateral relations’ development and a wide range of international issues. One of the leading topics of the meeting was signature of the peace treaty.

As per the Russian Leader, negotiations turned out to be very productive. The parties has proven one more time their readiness for mutual work and their firm intention to resolve all, even the most challenging questions, existing between Moscow and Tokyo. This dialogue was based on the principles of mutual respect, equal rights and consideration of each other’s interests.

Putin has underlined that the peace treaty should answer strategic goals of both countries and should be accepted by the Russian and Japanese peoples, which is the most important part.

Vladimir Putin and Shinzo Abe touched upon the subject of mutual business activities on the Southern Kuril Islands. It is worth reminding that the parties agreed on this question in the course of the Russian President’s visit to Japan at the end of last year.

Japanese Prime Minister has noted considerable advances undertaken towards the common goal.

Russian Leader has declared that a specialized trip to the Southern Kuril Islands of the Japanese officials and businessmen will be organized for scrutinizing definite cooperation opportunities.
