St. George ribbons to be distributed by the White House in Washington

The St. George Ribbon campaign starts in the capital of USA, RIA Novosti informs. Members of Russian-speaking youth organizations will become its participants. They plan to spend the campaign right next to the White House – the official residence and workplace of the President of the United Sates.

According to the Russian diplomatic representative office, Washington citizens will get around five thousand black-and-orange ribbons symbolizing the Great Victory in WWII. Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots organizes the event abroad. After that, The St. George Ribbon campaign will be taken over by New York City and later it will spread all over the country. The campaign will take place in more than thirty American cities this year.

Besides, St. George ribbons will be distributed to children who study in Russian-speaking schools of Washington, Texas, Florida. Then, the pupils of these schools will come to American schools to tell the local children about this Victory symbol at the courage lessons and hand them in several thousand of St. George ribbons.

The campaign will continue during a large-scale volunteer motor rally in honor of the Victory Day celebration. The rally will be organized by Russian expats residing in Florida.
