The total disaster damage amounted to about forty million dollars.

The money will be transferred to Cuba through the United Nations. One million dollars will be allocated to the UN Development Programme and half a million dollars will be sent to the UN Children’s Fund in Cuba.

The corresponding agreement was signed by the Head of Russia’s Diplomatic Mission Mikhail Kamynin and UNDP and UNCF representatives at Cuba Mitra Kaulard and Maria Machikado Teran in Havana.

The financing from RF budget is targeted to reconstruction of damaged buildings and recovery of infrastructure in Guantanamo. This province took the whole brunt of the disaster. Water-supply system in living blocks and objects of social significance will also be renovated.
