Two Russian films will compete in Cannes

Russian films will participate in Cannes festival that starts this year on the famous French holiday resort on May 17. Drama Loveless by Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev is included in the main program.

According to film producer Alexander Rodnyanskiy, it's quite an honor to be invited to one of the most prestigious and oldest festival.

The drama selected to compete for the Palme d'Or tells the bitter story of a couple going through a hard divorce. Two previous features of Zvyagintsev, Leviafan and Elena, received in Cannes award for the best screenplay, and Un Certain Regard special prize, accordingly.

Debut feature Closeness by young director Kantemir Balaganov participates in Un Certain Regard program. His film unveils the story of simple Jewish family in Nalchik. The film is supported by Sokurov Foundation involved unprofessional actors in order to reach realistic effect.
