XIV century fortress to be recreated at Kulikovo field

Wooden fortress dating back the fourteenth century is to be built at the territory of museum-reserve Kulikovo field located in the Tula Region. According to museum director Vladimir Gritsenko, it will be erected at the bank of the Don River near the Monastyrschino village. The construction works are to be completed in four years.

Buildings will totally correspond to the historical evidence, as per IA Interfax. Household items and way of people’s life of that time will be fully recreated. Contemporary audience will be utterly absorbed into the history and get acquainted with way of living seven centuries back.

Money for this project is allocated from non-budget sources. Financing will come in a format of state-private partnership.

Besides, the museum is going to establish Archaeological Collections Interregional Center in Epiphania. A new exposition about history of the ancient city-on-the Don River will be prepared for the Russian Fleet jubilee.

Museum expansion is planned in the regional center as well.

Museum director has added that up to one hundred and fifty people are expected to visit the museum this year. This is 30% more than last year which will enable to increase the museum income up to sixty two million rubles (more than $1 million).
