Yuri Gagarin bust was just installed in Vitanje, Slovenia. The opening celebration coincides with Cosmounautics Day celebrated today.

As per test cosmonaut at the Yuri A. Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center Valeri Tokarev the name of the first cosmonaut will remain the striking example for young generations that are going to reveal universe’s greatest mysteries.

Among guests was Russia's ambassador to Slovenia Doku Zavgayev, Slovenian State Council chairman Mitya Bervar, representatives of local administration and delegation from Vladimir Oblast. The congratulating letter from the first woman cosmounaut Valentina Tereshkova was read to the audience.

It is worth mentioning that Vitanje was chosen as the first place for Gagarin's monument in Slovenia not by chance. This place is connected with the life of outstanding Slovene rocket engineer and pioneer of cosmonautics Herman Potočnik. Aside of that, the Cultural Centre on EU Space Technologies (KSEVT) is also located here. KSEVT actively works with Russian partners. The bust made out of bronze from now on will embellish the lobby of this famous space technologies centre.
