Russian National Team wins 5 Gold Medals at 2017 European Weightlifting Championship

2017 European Weightlifting Championship completed in Split, Croatia. Having won 11 medals of different values Russian National Team leads the unofficial medal standings, TASS reports.

Our heavy athletes took five gold, four silver and two bronze medals. Bearing in mind that the National Team have been recently renewed, their performance is acknowledged as very successful.

Female Russian National Team won seven medals, including four golden ones at the competition. Natalia Khlestkina (63 kg), Anastasia Romanova (69 kg), Diana Mstieva (90 kg) and Tatiana Kashirina (+ 90 kg) became winners of the European Weightlifting Championship in Split. It is already the 7th victory for Tatiana Kashirina at the European Championship.

Male National Team snatched four medals, including one gold medal. Adam Maligov became the winner of 2017 European Weightlifting Championship in the weight category of up to 94 kg.

Our leaders expressed their intention to work without any days off until the Olympics.

Russian National Team in Heavy Athletics was banned from the Rio Olympics in 2016. Experts in this discipline predicted the gold medals for our sportsmen, especially for Tatiana Kashirina. However, politics intervened into the sport situation that time.
