New president of Serbia promises to keep friendly relations with Russia

The Presidential Administration of RF Alexander Vučić won the presidential elections in Serbia the day before. Earlier he had occupied the position of the government head, as per TASS.

Vučić has already presented his welcome speech promising to keep the direction to the European integration. He has underlined that the good relations with Russia will remain among top priorities of the country. Vučić expressed gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin who had agreed to meet with him a week earlier before the elections.

Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation was observing the elections. According to CEC member and the delegation head Vasily Likhachev, no infringements of the election procedures were fixed. In his point of view, the elections were conduction in a quiet and proper manner.

Vučić remarked that 12 percent more of the Serbian population had voted for him than for his competitors. It was a confident victory. He has satisfactory commented that he had managed to win right at the first tour of the elections after many years of hard work.
