Russian town stands to be on the UNESCO list

Gorokhovets from Vladimir district is included in UNESCO World Heritage Centre protected cultural landscapes preliminary list, RIA Novosti reports. The historical center of this old town is a unique cultural monument for architecture and archaeology. The town conserved the way it was from the very beginning. The development of the territory was carried out for centuries the same.

Currently, Gorokhovets holds third place after Vladimir and Suzdal on the status of a historic settlement of federal significance. 

It is written in advising UNESCO materials that well-preserved 17th century architecture demonstrates unique transition from the Middle times to the New times esthetics and philosophy. UNESCO specialists underline that the architecture of this place is an ideal addition to the natural landscape.

The final decision about including Gorokhovets in UNESCO list will be discussed at the next World Heritage Committee round table.

As of today, there are 16 culture heritage monuments and 9 nature parks located in Russia, which are already included in the UNESCO World Heritage. 23 objects yet to be discussed.
