French drama Diamond Island is Spirit of Fire Film Festival Winner

Winners of Spirit of Fire Film Festival were announced, TV Channel Culture reports. Diamond Island directed and co-written by French filmmaker Davy Chou gained the Golden Taiga Award. Russian board of judges complimented Yakutsk thriller My Murderer, the work of Kostas Marsan. Pavel Chukhray managed the work of international jury. Such cinema experts as Yury Bykov, Andrey Kravchuk and Mikhail Brashinsky judged Russian participants.

It is worth reminding that it is a tradition to screen film debuts in Khanty-Mansiysk. Film Ke–dy directed by Forum President Sergei Soloviev opened the ceremony. The festival winner Alexander Sokurov was awarded for considerable achievements in pedagogics at the festival.

As we reported earlier, Spirit of Fire participants celebrated anniversary of the celebrated film director Andrei Tarkovsky, who would be 85 years this year.

Spirit of Fire becomes a forum ground for moviemakers from BRICS countries for the second year in a row. Chinese Cinema Week was a part of the agenda. The honored guest was famous Chinese actress and model Zhang Ziyi.

Overall, 100 movies from 125 countries participated in the Spirit of Fire Film Festival this year.
