Russian drama film The Student directed by Kirill Serebrennikov won in three nominations of FEST Film Festival, which has just finished in Belgrade. In particular, the Federation of Film Critics of Europe and Mediterranean for the best European movie in the main competitive programme will hand Fedeora prize out to this motion picture. RIA Novosti reports.
Serebrennikov became the best film director and Pyotr Skvortsov was awarded as the best male actor. Let us remind that The Student has already won the Francois Chalais Prize in Cannes Film Festival last year.
The movie plot is around the conflict of troubled teenager who turned into a religious bigot with his school teacher. The movie scenario is after the play of German playwright Marius von Mayenburg, which awakes again eternal questions of parents – children relations.
Russian cinema was presented in other programs as well. Famous classics Dark Eyes by Nikita Mikhalkov was screened in the FEST Classics section. The Paradise, the last film of Mikhalkov’s brother Andrei Konchalovsky, was also shown to the Serbian audience.
FEST Festival is believed to be the largest and the oldest film festival in Serbia conducted for the 45th time this year.
