More than three hundred candidates were nominated for the Nobel Prize this year, TASS reports. However, it is not a record number, as there were more than three hundred seventy nominees – physical and legal bodies last year.
The Norwegian Nobel Institute workers and exert community will shortlist candidates and, after that, there will be several meetings of the Boarding Committee to discuss the shortlisted candidates.
Traditionally, the exact list of the candidates is not announced, however, there is some data leakage from organizations and prize winners who can propose their candidates. Thus, it has become known that French Center of political and international relations (CFPA) nominated Russian President Vladimir Putin for his contribution to anti-terrorism efforts. The same initiative was proposed by the Lithuanian intellectuals. Vladimir Putin was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 and 2013.
Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev, ex-CIA agent Edward Snowden, Pope of Rome Francis and other politicians and public activists may be among the nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize.
