Spirit of Fire film festival starts in Khanty-Mansiysk

Spirit of Fire film festival starts today in Khanty-Mansiysk, RIA Novosti informs. New film Ke–dy directed by renowned film director Sergei Soloviev will open the ceremony.

Apart from that, two great filmmakers will be acknowledged this year. The living legend Alexander Sokurov, who has become the festival winner for considerable achievements in pedagogics, will be awarded at the festival. Also Spirit of Fire participants will celebrate anniversary of genius Andrei Tarkovsky, who would be 85 years this year.

Eight film debuts will compete for the victory. Russia will be represented by 12 movies at the cinematic forum. According to Sergei Soloviev, the film debut candidates are very deliberately chosen. He has remarked that the forum agenda is very promising this year. 

Pavel Chukhray manages the work of international jury. Yury Bykov, Andrey Kravchuk and Mikhail Brashinsky judge Russian participants. The winner will receive Golden Taiga prize and money reward in the amount of six hundred thousand roubles ($10,272).

This forum has been held every year since 2003, when it was founded by Sergei Soloviev and famous Russian actor Alexander Abdulov.
