Moscow sent a note to Bulgarian Foreign Ministry due to the criminal act committed by unknown offenders who desecrated the Soviet Soldier monument. It was stated by Maria Zakharova, Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative, TASS reports.

Famous monument of the Soviet Soldier Alesha located in Plovdiv, was desecrated with fascists symbols and various nationalistic slogans. On the top of the engraving “Glory to Unbeatable Soviet Army – the Liberator” was written “Bulgaria Above All”.

As Mrs. Zakharova marked the Ministry received numerous letters from Russian residents that were shocked and appalled by the wanton act of vandalism. Diplomats expressed their deep concern regarding unbounded cynicism of this barbarity. Especially due to the fact that this offence was done on the official Day of the gratitude to the courage of those who resisted Nazism. The offence was committed during the night of 21-22 February.
