WADA: McLaren report evidence is not sufficient

World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) admitted that the report provided by commission under Richard McLaren doesn’t support enough evidence to impose suspensions against Russian athletes, TASS reports.

In the open letter International Olympic Committee (IOC) director general Christophe de Kepper has marked some inaccuracies in aforementioned report.

Let us remind you that the second part of Richard McLaren Independent Investigation Report published at the end of 2016, stated the evidence of manipulation of doping samples submitted by 1,000 Russian sportsmen during Olympiad in Sochi. However, during the recent sports federations meeting in Lausanne WADA informed that the evidence provided in McLaren Report doesn’t have enough grounds for Russian sportsmen disqualification.

Aside of other problems, some “lost in translation” cases also marked as a possible reason for discrepancies in the report.

Unfortunately, McLaren’s report already led to some unhappy consequences for the Russian sport: our leading sportsmen are suspended from several word championships, and some competitions that had to take place in Russia now moved to other countries.
