Priority of Russia is to find mutually beneficial compromise. At this, our country does not seek confrontation with anybody, but we will always stand for country’s interests, as Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov stated at the conference in Munich, RIA Novosti reports.

“Russia is not looking for conflicts with anybody, but will be able to protect its own interests. Our uncompromising priority is to pursue the goal by means of a dialogue and to find consent to mutual benefit”, the head of Foreign Ministry claimed.

He underlined that Russia is interested in pragmatic and mutually respectful relations with USA. Lavrov reminded that our countries have never been openly in confrontation, but often supported each other. “Our common interest is to build constructive Russian-American relations”, Minister remarked.

Lavrov pointed out the necessity to restore collaboration between Russia and NATO. “Any meetings of diplomats will be pointless in terms of solving issues of safety as long as there is no practical collaboration”, the diplomat underlined.

The head of Russian Foreign Service reminded that Russia-NATO Founding Act was signed 12 years ago and the Rome Declaration “Russian-NATO relations: New quality” was concluded 15 years ago. Lavrov emphasized that these documents implied the obligation to provide security based on mutual respect and observation of each other’s interests.
