The biggest diamond in Europe was extracted near Arkhangelsk, according to TASS. The mineral’s weight is 181.68 carats (36.3 grams). This is the first stone of such a big size found at the territory of the Archangelsk Region and the whole Europe.

There are no further details of either diamond clarity or perspectives of its carving.

Only five diamonds with weight exceeding 180 carats have been mined in our country lately, and almost all of them are discovered in Yakutia.

The field reserves in the Arkhangelsk Region are estimated to go beyond 100 million carats. More than 9 million carats have been recovered at the field since the beginning of its exploitation.

Russia represented by ALROSA Group has become a key player at the world diamond market accounting for up to 35% of overall diamond mining.
