100th anniversary of Russian Revolution opens February 23 in Geneva gallery D10, RIA Novosti reports. Exhibition «Icons of the Russian revolution» presents artworks created during last 100 years. Among precious pieces are orthodox icons and artworks of Russian and International artists.

According to organisers, the idea is to show that it has come a long way, and there's a way to go and much more to expect. If 100 years ago people believed in God and prayed in front of the icons now Gods are not the same. Simultaneously, people continue to pray but not to the icons. They choose film stars, revolution leaders, natural resources etc. "All those things made their own revolution to make a significant impact on other people's lives," - it was commented in the gallery.

Except 19-20th century icons there are images of Bolsheviks and Soviet governors, revolution leaders. Among the new "icons" are portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Che Guevara, Timur Novikov and Roland Shalamberidze artworks. Separate part of the exhibition is dedicated to digitally altered photographs of executed Russian Tsar family in Tobolsk by Andrey Chezjin.

It will be possible to discover Russian history through the series of exhibitions in D10 gallery in the future.
