Natalia Sats Children Musical Theater is nominated for the “Oscars of the opera”

Several Russian theaters, smaller theater groups and single performers compete for prestigious classical music prize from the International Opera Awards. The awards are widely regarded as the Oscars of the opera. The Moscow State Opera and Ballet Theatre for young audience named after Natalia Sats is in the list of the nominees in Education & Outreach category.

The President of the Musical Theaters Association in Russia and the Artistic Director of Natalia Sats Children Musical Theater, Georgy Isaakyan congratulated his co-workers, and expressed gratitude for the high estimation of the theater works by European colleagues.

Dutch National Theatre, Glyndebourn Komische Oper, Lyric Opera of Chicago and Umculo Cape Festival are being nominated along with the Russian Children Musical Theater.

In these 17 nominations only top theaters, directors, performers, choirs are listed. There’s a very recognizable name of Anna Netrebko in the list of nominees for the best Female Singer. Anna will have to compete with world known divas: Maria Bengtsson from Sweden and Stéphanie d’Oustrac from France. Also Russian director Kirill Serebrennikov and MusicAeterna Choir from Perm were nominated for International Opera Awards.

The Award ceremony will take place on 7th May at the London Coliseum.
